Waxed canvas is a traditional English fabric historically used for boat sails, thanks to its waterproof properties resulting from the treatment of cotton with beeswax and oils.
Over time, this fabric gradually loses its surface wax layer; therefore, it should be re-waxed seasonally to restore 100% waterproofness.
Maintenance and re-waxing
With time and use, the fabric tends to gradually lose its surface layer of wax, thereby reducing its waterproofness.
To maintain its 100% protective properties, it is important to perform seasonal re-waxing with specific wax-based products. This simple procedure allows you to extend the life of the fabric, keeping it always ready to face the elements while preserving its authentic appearance.
